GRAPE: 95% Sangiovese,  5% Malvasia Nera

SOIL: Clay – Limestone, with a good stone skeleton

COLOR: Deep ruby-red with light garnet highlights depending on the ageing

NOSE: Intense and elegant it combines fruity, flowery and spicy perfumes. It is an explosion of plum, berry, black cherry with attractive aromas of earth, tobacco and liquorice

TASTE: Full-bodied and round with thick, soft tannins and a long elegant finish

In the heart of Chianti Classico territory, at an altitude of 420m above sea level, the vineyards of Casa Emma are a classic example of the charm of the Chianti countryside. Together with the most important grape variety of Chianti the “Sangiovese”, which covers about 80% of the property, at Casa Emma we grow other ancient, yet traditional grapes like “Canaiolo” and “Malvasia Nera”, as well as the international “Merlot” exclusively used for the Super Tuscan wine.

Casa Emma Chianti Classico RISERVA DOCG is fermented in stainless steel vats with 18 to 20 days of maceration over the skins with frequent “pump-overs” to enhance the extraction of flavors and phoenolic components. After the malolactic fermentation the wine spends a period of two years in medium size oak from Allier France (700 Litres or 185 Gallons).

After bottling it spends 10 months at the winery to sharpen and to recover from the bottling shock.
